In Olive Class there are 30 children.  Our teacher is Miss Winterbone and our teaching assistants are Mrs Merrick, Mrs Butler and Mrs Wood.

Audley End

We went on a class trip to Audley End House and Gardens to look at the different types of gardens they have.  We saw the house gardens, kitchen gardens, open grass, river banks and relaxation gardens.  Have a look at what we got up to!

Love Lane

We went on a class trip to Love Lane to look at the different plants they have there and compare them to those we have seen in the school.  Have a look at some of the photos we took of the different plants!

Planting

In Science we have been thinking about different types of plants.  We went on a walk around the Nature Trail at school to find different types of plants and compare them.

We have also been busy planting different flowers.  We planted daffodils in the planter outside our classroom and discussed how we wouldn't see these flowers until next spring.

We then planted our own sunflower seeds.  We have predicted how long it will take for them to grow from the seeds to flowering, we're going to see who's closest when they come up! We learnt that they need compost, sunlight and water for them to grow.

We have been learning about different plants and how they grow.  We learnt about the lifecycle of a flowering plant and recreated this ourselves.

Making Maps

In Geography we looked at maps of the local area and found Chipping Ongar, Chelmsford, Hanningfield Resivour and lots of local woodlands.  We talked about the symbols on the map and used the key to work out what they all meant.  We are making our own maps of the school for new children to help them if they get lost.  We learnt how to use compasses and went on a walk around the school to plot our own symbols on a map of the school.
