Rowan Class

PE is on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please make sure you have your kit and do not wear earrings on these days.

In Rowan Class there are 30 children. We are taught by Miss Marran and our associate teacher Mrs Mulholland. Our TA is Miss Kent.

From Bean to Bar

Recently, we made chocolate truffles with the help of our volunteers. We used nets of 3D shapes to make boxes. Some truffles were so delicious that they never made it into a box!

Angle Ballet

In PE and Maths we did angle ballet to practise the different kinds of angles.


We have found out how to multiply 3-digit numbers. Watch the video to learn how to do it.

Luna Comes to Visit


Rowan Class were lucky enough to have a very special visitor, Luna the trainee guide dog. Luna is a regular on This Morning and came in with her trainer to tell us all about what it takes to be a guide dog.  

Grid Method Multiplication

In maths, we have been learning to multiply 2-digit numbers by a single digit number using the grid method. Watch the video tutorial for how to do it. 


Column Method Addition

We have been practising using the compact column method to add 3-digit numbers. Watch our tutorial for how to do it.

Column Method Subtraction

We have also learnt how to subtract using the short column method. 


Rampaging Rowans

In Computing we have been building our own class webpage. It is a work in progress.



In P.E. we have been making our own sequences and thinking about counter-balance. 

Science of Sound

Sandford Mill

We visited Sandford Mill in Chelmsford to investigate two of our Y4 science topics - electricity and habitats.  We had a fantastic day and the sun shone for us.
